About
Dorkbyte is the brainchild of Laura Khalil, a San Francisco based writer, technologist and occasional funny lady.
Alright, it’s a bit too weird to talk about myself in the third person, so here’s the lowdown on Dorkbyte. I really wanted to create something that embodied the playful spirit of Laughing Squid and while serving as a looking glass into San Francisco geek culture and nerd life.
With that in mind, Dorkbyte is a place to come to read (hopefully!) interesting stories and vignettes about geek culture and nerd discoveries I make traipsing around San Francisco. I always wanted Dorkbyte to be a place that anyone would feel welcome, whether brand new to technology or science or and old pro. So sit back, relax and enjoy!
Hey, I’ve got a PhD in CS and I *still* enjoyed it.
Good luck with this, Laura.

It is refreshing and inspiring to see that there is a Renaissance Woman in the present age of tech dominance. Technology is amazing. You, as an intelligent female have a cornicopaeia (misspelled?) of benefits to contribute to this world. If only there existed the necessary supports to nurture similar abilities in other girls and women.
Awesome. :] I’m definitely reading stuff here.
